Job Description
Our client is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support manufacturing operations by identifying new suppliers, securing critical materials, and minimizing supply chain risk. This role requires someone with experience in both purchasing and strategic sourcing, including sourcing and qualifying new vendors—not simply managing an existing supplier base.
Responsibilities
- Identify, qualify, and develop new supplier relationships.
- Source critical, long-lead, and hard-to-find materials.
- Evaluate alternate sourcing strategies, substitute components, and expedited procurement options.
- Build strong supplier partnerships while negotiating pricing, lead times, and delivery.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to resolve sourcing challenges.
- Monitor supplier performance and recommend process improvements to reduce risk and improve supply continuity.
- Analyze sourcing data and market trends to support strategic purchasing decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3–5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience identifying, qualifying, and onboarding new suppliers.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
