Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of payroll tax returns at federal, state, and local levels.
- Stay updated on evolving payroll tax regulations, including wage and hour laws, to maintain compliance.
- Oversee payroll tax processes, including withholding, reporting, and remittance.
- Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and address discrepancies or employee inquiries.
- Register for payroll tax accounts in new jurisdictions and close accounts as necessary.
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll tax data and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on payroll tax compliance and regulation changes.
- Manage payroll tax software updates and coordinate with external vendors as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 5-8 years of experience in payroll tax administration, with multi-state exposure.
- Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in payroll systems (ADP preferred but not required) and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to research, analyze, and apply tax rules to payroll scenarios.
- Willingness to travel 15-25% (1-2 times per quarter).
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and accurately.
