National Business Development Manager

The goal of the National Business Development Manager is to acquire new customers to achieve new business sales, open new markets, and reach profitability goals. This role requires frequent communications with customer executives and senior management, proven selling skills in business services to major accounts, a strong bias for results, and national travel (up to 50%)
While the role will initially be heavy research and internal cold-calling to find new prospects to build relationships, and will move to more of an outside sales position with scheduled travel once territories are solidified.
The role is a base salary plus an aggressive commission and bonus plan. The National Business Development Executive is a year-one, six-figure opportunity.
•Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University
•2+ years of proven HUNTING B2B Outside sales experience with positive, quantifiable results.
•2+ years of B2B Outside Sales experience in CPG, preferably in the Consumer Electronics space, dealing with mid-sized to larger clients.
•Strong background in building retail consumer product relationships
•Entrepreneurial in nature with experience selling to multiple levels, project stakeholders, and distributors.
•Experience dealing with larger sales targets.
•Able to work a longer sales cycle for larger deal sizes, but easily able to adapt to close smaller clients who are on a much shorter sales cycle.
•Ability to understand the competition and articulate our unique selling position and value
•Self-motivated with a desire to take on new challenges and new product lines.
•Self-starter with excellent time management and prioritization skills with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing competitive landscape.
•Strong administrative skills and attention to detail, especially in establishing new business relationships and in new product launch
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
•Ability to articulate and sell via solutions-based selling techniques.
•Able to build long-term relationships with distributors and direct clients so each sale isn’t always based on price.
•Must be highly driven and self-motivated
•Must be consistently proactive toward lead gen research and development and can quickly process the opportunity to determine viability.
•Must have fantastic verbal and written communication skills and have demonstrated problem-solving and negotiating skills.
•Possess both consultative and relationship-based sales qualities when engaging with prospective customers.
•Strong Microsoft Office skills –WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint.
•Proven time management skills are critical.
•As this is a new product line for us, entrepreneurial experience and “territory builder.”
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
•Generate and close business opportunities through proactive territory management, account planning, customer referrals, strategic and target account prospecting.
•Coordinate and lead RFI, RFP, etc., preparations, responses, and delivery to prospective customers alongside the proposal management team.
•Prepare and complete sales agreements and related sales documentation and help drive sales negotiations and closings.
•Plan and attend tradeshows and conferences as assigned.
•Develop and deliver effective sales presentations to prospective customers and coordinate, prepare, and assist with product demonstrations.
Location: Our client prefers candidates already residing in the Kansas City metropolitan area. They may consider people in other continental US locations if they meet all of the criteria, including industry-related experience.
