Fast Growing - Johnson County Construction/Engineering Company - over 50 years in business - is looking for a "top of class" Controller open to growing with a company that has recently doubled in size!

We seek an experienced Controller with a can-do attitude and creative problem-solving skills to join our team. Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • In conjunction with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
  • Prepare documents by scrutinizing and verifying that all required attachments have been supplied before documents are channeled for approval, posting and payment process
  • Initiate payments into the banking system or writing bank checks, while ensuring segregation of duty is strictly for each paid document is strictly observed between posting and payments
  • Ensure payments and all other processes are in compliance with internal control policy and other policies
  • Maintaining document workflow system and ensuring the document workflow template is fully updated with daily posting and payments made
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies and errors as reported by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Prepare the weekly payroll
  • Reconcile bank accounts and clear any discrepancies in the balances by researching and analyzing the account information

Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
  • WIP, percentage of completion, and project management is critical for success!
  • Deadline-Oriented, Reporting Research Results, Time Management and Data Entry Management.
  • Electronic accounting software experience
  • Knowledge of the full accounting cycle
  • Highly proficient in Excel and Word applications
  • High level of deductive reasoning
  • Ability to problem-solve and take initiative to resolve issues
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English
  • Exceptional follow-through skills
