Controller - Insurance Background

Location: Johnson County

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Oversight:
    • Provide strategic financial leadership, overseeing all financial operations related to insurance activities.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts for insurance operations.
    • Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

  3. Risk Management:
    • Assess and manage financial risks associated with insurance activities.
    • Implement strategies to mitigate financial exposure and optimize risk-adjusted returns.

  4. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for insurance business segments.
    • Provide insightful analysis of financial results, highlighting key trends and variances.

  5. Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
    • Streamline reporting mechanisms and internal controls.

  6. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements impacting insurance accounting and reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and reporting standards.

  7. Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor a team of finance professionals within the insurance operations department.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;CPA designation preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Controller, preferably with a focus on insurance operations.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific ERP systems is a plus.
