Position Summary:
The CAO will play a critical role in shaping this organization's financial strategy and sustainability. This individual will oversee the financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The CAO will also be a strategic partner to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, contributing to the organization's overall success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead financial strategy, planning, and analysis to support organizational growth and sustainability
  • Manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Oversee accounting, finance, and audit functions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including audits and tax filings (Form 990)
  • Provide financial insights and reports to the Board of Directors and leadership team
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and optimize resources
  • Partner with program leaders to align financial practices with mission objectives
  • Support grant management and donor relations, ensuring proper tracking of restricted funds
  • Lead and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within a non-profit organization
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles (GAAP), budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Experience with grants, restricted funding, and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and Board of Directors
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office Suite
