Job Summary

The Technical Investment Accountant will perform investment accounting and financial analysis responsibilities, with involvement in the monthly financial close process. The Technical Investment Accountant will also maintain the investment data warehouse and effective internal controls to ensure accurate U.S. GAAP reporting. The Technical Investment Accountant will serve as a primary contact to internal departments.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain investment data that is vital to the accurate and timely reporting of all investment accounting information for securities and derivatives portfolios
  • Perform investment accounting activities which include recording daily trades, monthly portfolio earnings, financial calculations, and investment accounting journal entries
  • Analyze investment portfolio results, identify anomalies, anticipate and troubleshoot issues
  • Review accuracy of payments made and received on investment transactions and prepare reconciliations of investment, cash, and collateral accounts
  • Evaluate the investment portfolio for potential impairments and document analysis
  • Perform quarterly review of market prices used to value the securities portfolio
  • Prepare financial reports
  • Coordinate with third-party providers to receive data feeds and ensure all back-up information is stored
  • Implement new internal controls and provide documents to key stakeholders
  • Participate in continuing and ongoing education related to the investment industry, new accounting pronouncements and business policies and procedures

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification a plus
  • 4-6+ years of accounting/finance experience, with 2+ years working in an Investment Accounting role
  • A solid understanding of the U.S. GAAP accounting requirements for investment products
  • Experience working with investment reporting applications and general ledger systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
