The scope of this position is to develop, coordinate, implement and maintain new technology strategies for a Digital Products team, supporting all business operations. The position reports directly to the Chief Digital Officer. These efforts will involve management of resources and directing team members and third-party contractors or consultants to implement strategies according to plan, within budget and deadlines. Working with the Digital Products team and business partners, the Technology Director will develop and execute various technology initiatives, with responsibility for nimbly meeting project objectives and managing quality control throughout the project life cycle. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the project lifecycle for all Digital Product development work from conception to completion, with an emphasis on technical soundness and resource efficiency.
  • Support Product Managers, Project Manager and Business Analyst as they define the scope, establish milestones, and schedule plans and timelines for various digital products projects in collaboration with all operations and others as required.
  • Manage project expectations and tasks with team members & other stakeholders, including collaborating to refine and evaluate requirements, consult on the most efficient and effective technical solutions and create project resource estimates.
  • Assign technical resources and participants needed to achieve project goals with the Project Manager.
  • Design system architecture and create process flows that support business needs and technical efficacy.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to internal and external partners, including digital content delivery, ad-supported website and mobile app development, ecommerce, and marketing products (social, email).
  • Lead the staff responsible for web/app development, technical requirements gathering/documentation, project management and quality assurance.
  • Manage the training of project team members and staff members to develop skills in new technologies and tools needed in their current positions.
  • Ensure development work meets user experience goals while being architecturally sound, built for the long term and designed to support ease of maintenance – ensuring consistent application of coding standards.
  • Establish and build relationships with potential external partners as well as internal business groups.
  • Maintain current knowledge of existing and new technologies and standards in order to introduce options that keep Digital Products work current and efficient in delivery.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Agile product development experience a plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year college degree in the field of Information Technology/Computer Science or related fields.
  • 5+ years direct work experience in technology and digital project management, including all aspects of product and process development and successful execution.
  • Familiar with programming languages; Ruby on Rails, PHP, Go.
  • Database and operating systems experience with Windows, Linux and SQL Server.
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including web application development.
  • 2+ years previous successful experience leading technology teams.
  • Technically competent with various software programs; MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to flowchart business processes and integrate the technology components and systems needed to support the business objectives inside the diagram.
